Transition Series - Episode Three
Join us online this June 16th, at 7:05pm MST for the third episode of the Transition Series, presented by the Calgary Climate Hub
Episode Three
This episode will feature a remarkable discussion with indigenous artist, activist and educator Chantal Stormsong Chagnon, of Cree8 - a local Indigenous organization that aims to create bridges between people, culture and within yourself.
Contemporary Albertan issues and solutions will be discussed, with a focus on our existing energy systems, water and land rights, and the transition to an equitable and climate-friendly future.
Chantal Stormsong Chagnon
A single mother of two boys, and adopted twin girls, Chantal understands societal struggle first hand. She has been an activist, advocate for her community, professional performer and a staunch crusader for causes close to her heart. Chantal is active within many social and environmental justice causes, including Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women (MMIW), the Niitsítapi Water Protectors resisting coal expansion, and more. She regularly organizes events and shares singing, drumming, speaking, presenting, and teaching within the community, with a focus on building allies and alliances. Chantal Chagnon is passionate about building awareness and sharing understanding of Indigenous culture, spirituality, social justice and political issues. She creates opportunities for cooperation, education, and empowerment everywhere she can.
Celebrate Indigenous Awareness Month with us as we talk to Chantal about how sharing culture and building community is an integral part of building bridges of understanding and acceptance, and how a healthier, fairer, more sustainable Canada is possible as we make decisions for future generations to come.
