Move For Mental Health with Momentum Counselling!

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week, May 3-9, 2021, Momentum is hosting a virtual fundraising event! Move for Mental Health is intended to get you up and moving, however you choose, to support Momentum's counselling program.

Your donation will go directly to our counselling program, ensuring mental health supports are accessible to all. Mental health and wellness should not be a luxury, it is a necessity. Over a year into the pandemic, the need for counselling and support is higher than ever. The mental health sector is overwhelmed, with waitlists for funded counselling. Providing mental health supports when needed prevents family and relationship breakdown, suicidal ideation, keeps people working and prevents the need for more intensive psychiatric services in the future.

Our counsellors are passionate advocates for mental health and wellness and want to ensure people have the support they need, when they need it. We offer a method of clinical intervention that produces real results in real time, relieving people of their emotional strain, as well as addressing some of the stress on the mental health system. Our sliding service scale determines the applicable session fee. The scale is based on the client’s monthly household income and ranges from $25 to $200 per session. For those with extended health benefits, we can offer direct billing.

People come to us for a range of reasons. Some may be seeking strategies that can be used to problem solve an issue or they may need help coping with a stressful situation. They might want to determine what services and programs could be most helpful to them, or they might simply want to be heard in a safe, empathetic environment. For many of our clients, we are their first counselling experience.
